An educational visit to the Labour Court

Poona Institute of Management Sciences and Entrepreneurship had organized a visit to the Labour courts for the MBA-HR and MPM students on 28th October, 2010. The purpose of the visit was to acquaint the students of the proceedings at the labour courts. Adv. Sheetal Lokhande addressed the students.

In her address to the students Adv. Lokhande provided information on the jurisdiction of the Pune Labour court and the industrial tribunal. She also stated that the matters that came to these courts included matters related to termination, wages, service conditions, individual complaints etc.

The difference between the procedure of litigation of individual complaint and Reference from the Labour commissioner was also discussed. There after, the stages of the proceedings at the courts and tribunal was explained followed by a question and answer session.

Twenty students along with faculty members visited the court. The visit proved to be of high educational value and a experience to witness the proceedings at the court. The visit was organized under the able guidance of Dr. Anwar Shaikh, Director, PIMSE. The visit was coordinated by Prof. Tahemina Pathan, Prof. Khadija Bohari, Prof. Pooja Wankhede and Prof. Mandar Bhrame.
