The Making of Global Corporate Managers

Poona Institute of Management Sciences and Entrepreneurship had recently organized an induction program titled “The Making of Global Corporate Managers”, for its pilot batch of MBA students and also the first year students of MCM and MPM. Dr. Anwar Shaikh, Director, PIMSE welcomed the first year students at the beginning of the event followed by speeches made by two eminent personalities - Dr. Dilip M. Sarwate, Management Consultant and Mr. Vijay Kumar, Head Training and Development, Asia Pacafic, Cognizant Technology solutions. The program was attended by 120 students.

Dr. Dilip M. Sarwate in his speech said that “Globalization is the only answer and organizations need to keep expanding if they want to survive in the market.”  He mentioned the role that managers have to play in this era of globalization. He also highlighted the attributes that should be present in  the global manager viz. knowledge, Soft skills, attitudes, cross cultural sensitization, and change in belief.

Mr. Vijay Kumar, Head, Training and Development, Asia- Pacific, Cognizant Technology solutions spoke on “The 21st Century Manager.” He said that manager’s today need to make the optimal use of technology in making decisions. In his stirring speech which included references to a lot of anecdotes, Mr. Vijay Kumar imparted a lot of imperative learning. His speech contained all the essential ingredients necessary for making the Global corporate manager. It provided the necessary boost to the students to prepare themselves during the two years of post graduate education so that they are industry ready.
