Lecture on "U.S. - India Green Partnership"As part of the road show organized in Pune by the American Consulate, a lecture on U.S. - India Green Partnership by Ms. Lynne Gadkowski, Public Affairs officer, American Centre, Mumbai, had been organized in PIMSE on 9th July, 2010. Dr. Anwar Shaikh, Director, PIMSE was also present at the event. The lecture was coordinated by Prof. Tahemina Pathan, Prof Sheena Abraham, Prof Mandar Bhrame and Prof. Gulab Pathan. Ms. Lynne Gadkowaski in her address to the students spoke about the initiatives taken in U.S. by the Obama administration at domestic and state level to control carbon dioxide emission and mitigate climate change. In her talk she also mentioned the various international submits and panels on climate change that the U.S. participated in. Ms. Lynne Gadkowaski stated that "The U.S. government is investing over $80 billion in clean energy". She also said that the U.S. - India Green Partnership will result in generation of funds for green projects in India and that the Indo - US clean Energy Research Deployment initiatives will establish a joint research centre to examine some of the most promising clean energy technology . At the end of the session she also put forth the opportunity of student exchange programs to study the various initiatives taken in U.S. with regards to waste management, emission control etc. The lecture saw a large turnout of students and faculty members.
